The BBC website has an article about why we kiss. They reference the fascinating study we have under Research, and they also explore a bit of history of kissing and kissing in the animal kingdom, which is rare since most animals use smell to find a mate. “The oldest evidence of a kissing-type behaviour comes from Hindu Vedic Sanskrit texts from over 3,500 years ago. Kissing was described as inhaling each other’s soul.“
